I really want to break 9 in the 2 mile this year. I can knock off 13-15 mile runs at 6:00-5:40 and run 4-6 mile tempo runs at 5:14.
Anyone here have any input on what they were doing when they broke 9?

ok footlocker champion
You obviously have the endurance and volume which is most important, so maintain that, but as you get close to race season focus on your top speed (short sprints/reactive plyos) and especially speed endurance (30-60sec sprints) because metabolically, running as fast as you can for 8:59 seconds still requires a lot of top end speed.
2 back to back miles that average to under 4:30

Based on this info, I'd say you can run around 9:20.

Lol. Maybe if his max 400 ability is like 63.
4:20 mile max/ sub 4:15 ideal
15 flat 5k max/ sub 14:45 ideal
I'd want to solo time trial an even split 6:45 2400 before attempting sub 9 in a race. Good luck-

This information doesn't really tell us anything. All it says is that you're in great half-marathon shape. What are your track PRs?
