Alright, so I'm a HS freshman and I want to find out what a realistic progression would look like. I was thinking this would be realistic, but hopefully some coaches/college guys/people who know their stuff can help me out.
I've only been really running mileage (40-50 mpw) for 3 months really, and had a good XC season where I think I could've broken 17 on the track. I'll TT in the winter/spring to find out fore sure though.
Also, if I can run a 4:36-4:42 mile, is a 10:20 3200 realistic? Could I go faster?
Freshman year:
5000 (TT on a track): 16:50
1600: 4:36
3200: 10:20
Sophomore year:
16:00
4:30
9:50
Junior year:
15:30 (this might be a big jump, I'd take 15:45)
4:20 (also might be big, I'd be ok with 4:25)
9:30 (see above 2 things about being big)
Senior year:
15:10
4:15
9:20
Would this be a realistic progression assuming minimal injuries and good training? Would it be conservative or ambitious? Also, I know this is a tricky question but would 4:20/9:30 possibly get me on a D1 team?
