Elon Musk thinks much too highly of himself. He pulls these grandiose predictions out of his rear end. Instead of trying to appear as an intellectual leader, perhaps he should focus on trying to make a profit for at least one year (his net income has ranged from -74m to -888m. His company is bleeding, and the bloated stock will fall if he doesn't address this more immediate issue. Let the actual scientists focus on scientific and probability questions.

I work in a field relating to AI, and I know all about it. This dude has a weird affixation with AI. What he is saying literally means nothing because he cannot predict the future. The only reason people give him a second on the stage is because he is a successful entrepreneur. Entrepreneur does not equal Oracle.

Stick to cars and rockets, hotshot. First meet your production targets, then we can talk about AI.

I read his bio. He’s a strange dude from a very strange family. The world needs people like him, but take him with a grain of salt. Lastly, he’s not nearly as special as he thinks he is.

Don't know the guy, but he's hardly the only one worried about this. Robots are drastically stronger than we are and are learning how to move better every day. Have you all seen the large robot that does box jumps and then a back flip? Fast forward 10 years. They will be dramatically stronger than us, more agile, smarter and they never have to sleep. Maybe they won't be fully autonomous or maybe they will, but what happens if someone hacks into them and programs them to kill? They'll be able to do a lot of damage before they are stopped and if enough are hacked into, or programmed to hack into one another, what could be done?

Maybe it won't happen, but the possibility warrants consideration given we are talking about possible extinction.

Well that is now solved, we must kill Elon Musk.

Of the infinite negative possibilities that exist in the world related to our future, this one ranks extremely low in terms of realistic probability. Resources better spent elsewhere.
