Hey guys , just wondering what you think my 800 meter time would be at this moment. I'm a hs junior and my best event is the 800. Last Monday we had a time trial for the upcoming indoor season. We did a 1600 and then a 400 ten minutes later.
I ran 4:59.7 in the 1600 and then a 58 flat in the 400.
I won't be running an 800 until the first meet in like December, but based on these times I think I could push myself to a 2:10. Last year I was running prs of 5:04 and a 55.6 and my 800 was 2:08.
We need to know your gestation age and tri PR before we can predict any times
Never try to predict your times. It's impossible and always messes with your head before a race.
My bet is you run a 2:09 first race (assuming it goes well)

You're slow as hell, why bother building yourself up with a goal. There's probably no race strategy you could realistically employ because you're running all out and running well above 2 mins, race tactics won't make a difference for you if you don't have the speed or stamina to employ them. Just run the way you've been doing for the past few years man and get it done. You're clearly in PR shape for the mile, not in the 400, so well done there.

If your 800m is 2:08 from last year you can easily go sub 2:10 maybe even closer to 2:05. Don't let these guys discourage you 2:08 is very fast compared to the average runner who will never hit that time, especially as a sophomore. It seems to me you have decent speed at 55 second 400m but your ability to hold it is lacking. Try some longer runs and build your aerobic base up. These are great to do in the off-season as you won't get injured since that should be at an easy pace. Just focus on your training and sub 2:10 will come soon enough. You seem to have a good amount of talent just ask your coach for some training tips or look around this website. There are some great runners here with good training programs you can employ for the 800.
