The thread on morning runs got me wondering: How many high school programs do doubles and how often?
Is one of the runs optional or considered practice?

We double all the time, we even triple 800, 1600, 3200 to make sure that out of three race, one will be fast. It seems to work. If not, I add a leg of the mile relay, of which I usually scorch a fast :54-:56 leg.

He's talking about doubling training runs. One run the morning and one in the evening
we do doubles 1-3 times a week usually, ocassionally more in the summer.
They're just on your own though, no practice for the am run (pm in summer)
