I’m running in the Ghost now, but wanted to get a maximum cushion shoe for when I have to do concrete or recovery runs. I thought Glycerin was Brooks’s most cushioned neutral shoe model, but when I look at the specs it is almost the same exact weight as the Ghost.
What’s the difference?? Below are specs from website.
Brooks Glycerin 10.6 oz 10mm
Brooks Ghost 10.4 oz 12mm
Not much of a difference between them, it appears. Look at the Levitate as well. Max cushioning and Brooks version of Boost material.
Don't know if this is the same way for everyone, but the glycerins made my toes go numb because they were TOO cushioned. After 3 or 4 miles I could not feel them. This has happened with other high cushioned shoes as well. The ghosts are like a dream, I can get 400+ miles out of them, just like Hokas without all the cushion or strain on my calves! I suggest keeping the ghosts, but I hate soft shoes. To each their own
Sorry, I can't provide any input but as a fellow ghost user (who's thought about trying the glycerins for long runs, launch for tempos/longer races and the levitate just because) I'll give you a bump
Brooks is an ok shoe, but I got injured a lot with them. Try the Vibrams five fingers. They strengthen your leg and have just enough padding. Your feet wil never feel numb
I’m running in Ghosts (9 and 10) and Glycerine 14’s. For me both pairs of Ghosts are more comfortable and cushioned than the Glycerins. Also, the padding on the Glycerines seem to be giving out earlier. Already at 300 miles, I feel worse after a 10 miler in the Glycerines than I do in my 380 miles Ghost 9’s.
Save your money and find some 9’s on sale.
Have run in the flows and Launch for a few years now, have never really been comfortable in the Ghosts. Recently started adding in the Glycerins to the rotation and really liked how they feel. Before that I actually tried the Transcend, liked them but didn't "love" them.
Have also mixed in a pair of the Levitate. Like the responsiveness but don't find them as comfortable as the Glycerins.

Nike Vomero is an excellent shoe for recovery runs especially on hard surfaces.
I work at a running store, and have worn both shoes for the purpose of knowing the shoes. However, I haven't trained in either of them.
The glycerin is the most cushioned of the brooks neutral line. The key is how light the cushion is. The shoes are remarkably light for how cushioned they are. I'd give the Glycerin a try over the ghost, but I am biased towards the glycerin.
