You don't. On a loop start together and meet at the end. She'll have to wait for you to finish. On an out and back just turn around before her and if you guess right you'll finish around the same time. Not rocket science.

It's not possible for runners of different abilities to run together and benefit. Either the slower one will be exhausted or the faster one will have to slow down and not get as much out of the run as he/she could. You could ride a bike with her or if running is the priority both of you could find running partners of similar ability. Or, if the point is simply to spend time with each other, perhaps you could find an alternate activity.

Why don't you just hitch her up to a wagon with you in it and have her pull you? She'd get a better workout and you'd get to spend time with her.

Fatten her up. Or take away her iron supplements.

Do 1/2 the run with her and make it a half marathon pace tempo run for yourself. Not enjoyable though as you wont be running at conversational pace. I find that the few runs I do with my kids are awesome opportunities to really 'communicate'

Work it out so your Tempo day coincides with her Recovery day. Or, have her push you in a baby jogger and then you push her back.

Roller blades. If you're too fast on them for her to keep up, get slightly crappier wheels for your roller blades.

Schedule to run on her recovery or easy day.

Change your goals. Make your weekend run the main run of the week, Train all week for it, then run it fast.

Very difficult for runners of diff. ability levels to run together. Not sure if you do tempo runs for yourself or not? But, if you do. You could run with her the first two miles easy as a warm up / she should be able to warm up at your pace / then you both stretch together / then you do a "hard effort run" possibly tempo effort for 4-5 miles while she runs with you on her long run. You stop - stretch - you are done / she continues for another couple miles or so to get her total miles in. That is about the only way.

For those of us for whom optimal training is not a life and death matter there are two options, either do a run that is a "social run" rather than a serious workout, or do what I do as a 68 year old with my mid-30s sons. We usually run together on Saturdays for 8-10 mi. and I do my long tempo effort and they do a recovery day.
