The only direct result I've seen were Alberto Salazar and Galen Rupp.
In high school he did mileage and a lot if it. He did tempo runs, k repeats, long runs. He was geared towards building, building, building. Not necessarily peaking. not workouts to put him in the best race shape of his life.
He was Talent, mostly. Paying attention to the little things, like stretching, lifting, strengthening, and speed development. I watched Flotrack's NOP documentary and improvement of athleticism was a huge focus.
I feel like he Maintained Quality rather than rebuilding it.
