One more question for you, kind genius, sir. Can you please explain what he means by "methods"? I haven't been able to figure that out either LOLOL I feel soooo dumb not realizing he was talking about Mohamed, Galen and Alberto ROFL
Hi guys,
Me again. I heard through the grapevine that the race organizers of the marathon that I will be competing in shortly have been in discussions with Glenn for the past couple of days. Glenn DNFed today, but he ran enough of the race to get his full appearance fee. I don't know if he ended up having to run too fast. He pushed the first 25k and did his warm down over the next 5k to get to the pre determined distance. I'm hoping that he shows up at my race, but I think that there is still only a 50/50 chance that he does.
BTW: I missed the race coverage. I wonder if his coach showed up for the race.
Hi guys,
Just got back home after my race. Glenn didn't race today after all. I think that his effort last week may have been too much. The conditions were harsh last week and I tip my hat to Glenn for even showing up at the starting line. Deep down however, I'm starting to think that my ex coach simply doesn't want to be at a race where I am competing. Since he "has" to show up at all of Glenn's races, maybe that's why Glenn was not here today.
Anyway, I beat my old team's club record. I'm happy with that. Still a long way to go before I can call myself a marathoner however. The first half of the race (and first 5k) were just too much for me at this point. The first 5k was covered at a pace which is more than 1min15 faster than my half marathon PB!!!! Even faster than my road 10k PB pace! Anyway, I won't complain. I simply need to double up on my training "methods", which should allow me to put in more training volume. I'm certainly not there yet.
3.33/10
Hi guys,
My ex teammate, Glen, ran a marathon today. I feel that I should congratulate him on his first outdoor club record. He's even faster than me at the marathon now. However, (1) he ran an even pace, whereas I went out at a crazy fast pace (2) the race conditions were way better than when I ran my PB. Anyway, I don't want to minimize his accomplishments. He ran well. I am sure that I will race against him in the next 2 years and we will see.
BTW: What a surprise! My ex coach was at his race (again). Yet he doesn't show up to any of my ex teammates' races anymore either. I can't believe that he still has other athletes in his roster.
It's running. Nobody really gives a shlt about it. Just because in your mind you think it has meaning, doesn't mean other people do

A) I don't know this Alberto that you are referring to
B) it's not only me. I have another ex teammate who won the biggest meet in the world a couple of years ago. I also don't find that my ex coach is giving him the attention that he deserves. I feel that it is affecting his performance. Last week he got totally owned by a HS kid in his main event. That's not normal.

Well, that ex teammate of yours won his biggest race in a high school time so it's not so surprising he go owned by a high school runner last week.
Hi guys,
Thought that I would give you a little update.
Guess what... I will be running against my old teammate this weekend. Of course, I will be racing on his turf. I guess that I may bump into my old coach. I wonder how that will feel. Wish me luck.
Hi guys,
Just got back to my hotel a few minutes ago. Happy with my race. My goal was simply to win the race, which I did. The time was not the best, but it is a PB. The weather was not the best either. I had never won a marathon before, so I was starting to doubt myself. Anyway, I am pleased with my effort. I think that I am figuring out how I need to run this race to win.
Anyway, Glenn was there. He did ok, but I think that he is a little disappointed with his performance.
If you are wondering, I did not bump into my ex coach. What really bothers me is that last year, when Glenn won (in a very slow time BTW), coach was there at the finish line crying of joy. This year, Glenn was not doing as well, but one of his teammates was on fire. That teammate broke the club record and won this special prize for beating this other record. He did much better than Glenn did last year (in my mind). However, coach was nowhere to be seen (just because Glenn was not doing so well).. Coach should have been there jumping up and down for his other athlete. I am really upset about this and feel bad for the teammate (let's call him Steve.). I feel like welcoming Steve to my new training group. He would be a great teammate to train with.
I can't believe that coach keeps doing this to his athletes.
Anyway, it's his loss.
I’m starting to think this could be Mo Farah writing about Galen and Alberto. Has anyone else noticed this???
You be mad ! ?
Mo, how do you feel about your old teammate Glenn being injured?
i don't know why i'm posting this crap wrote:

Hi guys,
I'm sorry. I am not aware that Glenn is injured, but if he is, I hope that he has a quick recovery. Like I said before, I like and respect Glenn. I wish him all the best.
On a semi related note:
I would like to take this opportunity to talk about another ex teammate of mine. Let's call him Chris. Chris was a top middle distance runner coming out of College. He was as good, if not better than Glenn was when he came out of College (and certainly better than I was at that age). He joined our group not too long after graduating.
From the start, our coach did not treat him with the respect that he deserved. Sure, some of our coach's training methods gave him an immediate improvement, but from the start the coach simply put him on a similar training plan than Glenn. That plan works well for Glenn, but Chris attained success with a totally different system. Chris was simply used as Glenn's training rabbit. Remember, this is a guy who was just as strong as Glenn out of College.
Chris had a little success for a couple of years, but certainly never progressed the way that Glenn progressed out of College (makes sense when you are doing someone else' training program). Chris is from another country. I also never saw our coach going to Chris' national championship to chear him on (even though Chris' national championship was sometimes closer to our training base than Glenn's was). I however do not remember our coach missing one of Glenn's national championship.
Unsurprisingly, Chris ended up getting injured by following Glenn's plan. He struggled to get back on his feet. Again, our coach never gave Chris the required attention for him to recover properly from his injuries. Chris ended up leaving the group around the time that I left the group.
It then took Chris a few more years to get back on his feet.
Long story short. Chris ran his first marathon this past weekend. He did very well. He even beat the record for his region. That's a big deal. Furthermore, his first marathon (which was run in cold and windy conditions) was faster than Glenn's first marathon and Steve's first marathon. It was almost as fast as my first marathon. Ironically, I have the marathon record for my region, Steve has the marathon record for his region and Chris now has the marathon record for his region. The only guy who does not have the marathon record for his region is Glenn. Yet, he is and will always be the golden child in the eyes of my coach.
Chris lived through a very dark period in the last few years. I am very happy for him that he has escaped this period. Perhaps, by training alone he will get back to his former glory.
I heard that he was so depressed, that he stopped coming to the Letsrun forum. I also heard that he may be back on our forum. Chris, if you are back and you are reading this post, I would like to congratulate you personally for your patience and determination. I hope that I get to race against you at the highest level in the next few years.
You’re at your meet. Your coach is missing. Your mom and dad are missing.
Ménage e trois?
???
What’s up now, Glenn and ex-coach?
