clown race
clown race
Why don’t you go and try to win it yourself? Clown, go back to your circus
waddling on home for the win!
Boston and New York were faster. It is a shame and a huge disgrace to running. Those guys took a fast course and ran slower than Boston!
Chicago is now a B rated marathon and I hope Dubai takes its spot in the WMajorMarathon
I wonder if they had local bands along the route?
Every mile or so?
YOU CAN DO IT!!
Everyone gets a medal. Don't forget your goodie bag!!
I think Galen had colored paint all over him when he finished
Kirui won 2016 Chicago in 2:11:23 - ya big clown!

No. The organizers did that when the got rid of pacers.
Winning times for FPM:
2017: 2:33:43
2016: 2:26:03
2015: 2:32:53
Seriously, it went out slow and Galen brought it in strong. This happens. I understand the frustration since this is an WMM, but the comparison is ridiculous
Chicago marathon is becoming a joke.

DING DING DING. Bull$hit race witha bull$hit "winner."
Chicago is garbage; try that at New York-- a real course-- and see what happens.
Since 1995, Rupp's time of 2:09:20 is only better than 3 other winning times.
2007 - 2:11:11
2015 - 2:09:25
2016 - 2:11:23
Next slowest?
2:08:52 in 1996 and 2001
I thought it was a great race. It was more interesting than watching 3-4 paid pacers bring a small handful through the first half in 62. I have no problem with the finishing time today, and would not knock Rupp for his winning time. The guy just hung in the middle of the lead pack until about mile 23. It was smart racing today.
That said - I would like to see Rupp run London or Dubai or Berlin next year, where pacers are paid to take everyone through the half in 61-62. Just to see if Rupp can run sub 2:05.

In other words - it was the fastest time ever since they dropped the rabbits after ‘14. Thanks for supporting Rupp. It’s nice to see that on here every now and then.
Dude it was over 60 at the start. Not ideal for running fast

I'm so glad Chicago got rid of the pacers. I like racing. Not time trailing. Time trailing is about as exciting as watching paint dry.
Chicago is now the only major which is actually a race. Hurray!

+1. I don't watch races that have pacers. Just look at the results afterwards. Congratulations to Galen Rupp.

You're a true fan of the sport. I guess you just skip the track season altogether then?
Today's race was a great one in my opinion. The women went out hard early on, you got that bit of excitement. The men broke up late in the race which provided excitement at the end. Running is not all about time trialing. We would probably see more exciting races if we got rid of pacers. I can appreciate both types of races. Trashing a slower race shows you lack an understanding of the sport. Rupp beat a good field today. I believe with good temps and pacers he could go sub 2:06. Would love to see that but I don't let that take away from today's performance. The women were the real stars today! Great race today, haters will always hate.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
