I'm seeing if this annoys anyone because I was annoyed. I ran a race today which I won and this guy fresh off of a 4:39 road mile a week or two back is drafting behind me in the first mile just yapping and talking away. His tone sounded extremely condescending and cocky. I almost said look if you are real good just take off and win this race. Just leave me alone. He was making jokes about drafting off of me and saying hi to everybody we passed by. I honestly thought he was messing with me and pass me with a mile to go but I ended up beating him by 80 seconds. To me it sounded like I'm real fast, look at me and grasping for attention.
My bet is you are over exaggerating greatly, and he was probably a friendly guy trying to make some jokes. The fact that he brought up drafting off of you was his way of telling you that he is at least self-aware of the fact that he is being some-what of a jerk for making you do more of the work (it's called being polite).
You condescending feeling superior to him in both social ability (debatable), and speed (not debatable, at least that day), and then going onto a message board and letting thousands of people know that you, special you, beat him, and that you, special you, consider people like him annoying and quite beneath you makes you the one grasping for attention.
I honestly believe you have no idea how hypocritical you are. The way you feel and act is something more common among high schoolers. Many grow out of it, but some don't. Some might call it a lack of intelligence, but if you are an adult and you still haven't realized how hypocritical you sound, it is actually just narcissism.
