2:14 or so in the early 80's at Boston, I believe.
Last I heard he was still working design/development for athletic footwear in California...one of the most unique and talented guys in the sport and in the industry....
He is a world class footwear designer , living in London designing for Doc Martins. coming from Vans , Mizuno etc.

He ran 14:16 while beating Rich Kimball during his junior but never broke 14:00 at Irvine. His NCAA Division 2 XC win as freshman, was probably his last outstanding race.
Hurst was completely derailed by injuries in college and they rarely raced together. Serna’s training in HS was moderate compared to other runners from that era so it was surprising that he didn’t improve much in college.
