Not a single woman ran the 800m in under two minutes before 1971. Then, suddenly, a raft of Eastern European women began shaving seconds off the world record within a matter of years. Hmm, I wonder why?
Given the profusion of doping in this event - a few years back, Kelly Holmes remarked that she never ran in a single Olympics or World Champs race that did not include a drug cheat - and now the rumours around intersex runners, I think it's hard to say what a "decent" time might be.
