For years, Jamaica was doing little or no testing. That is a fact. Now, after a string of smaller scale doping busts for supplements, the dominance is gone.

The U.S. sprinters have had to go the designer label (recall balco, busted only because Graham sent in a needle to punish an opponent) for over 20 years now because of tighter testing.

They don't have the people and less talented juniors. Doped or not, (I tend to think doped) Jamaica has the most talent of the Anglo Caribbean islands because of grinding poverty and the largest population. Trinidad has half the people but about a quarter of the people of African descent. Trinidad has a sizeable Indian population who rarely have athletes in athletics. I have only seen the rare athlete in middle and long distance events.

As for Bahamas their population is about 100,000 thousand so the odds of finding dominant sprinters is even rarer than Trinidad.

How many have been aided by first world drug gurus? We know Ben doped and has repeatedly admitted, same with the rest of the Francis camp. Linford Christie who looked like he was cut from marble(a sign of doping), repeatedly has stated he never doped and took the wrong supplement when he failed his steroid test near the end of his career. If the testers have the cheats on the run the Yam miracle will be what Jamaica did pre 2008 which is very good for a small island but fairly mediocre compared to even large mediocre sprint countries like Germany.

Yes that's all a country the size of city can do. Carl Lewis stated as much when he said how can a country the size of Philadelphia produce so many champions and have clean sweeps in the short sprints. He was called a boor by the media but he spoke the truth.

I am not arguing that JAM was completely clean in recent years. I think they were on some good stuff... But I think the reasons for their recent dominance are much more multi-faceted than some sketchy drug testing. American obsession with football drawing away top athletes, national obsession with track in JAM, more incentives for potential immigrants to stay in JAM (instead of supplying G.B and Canada-- the other idiot doesn't understand where all black Britains and Canadians come from, apparently), and a transcendent talent who has dominated the world since age 15.

The population of the Caribbean is nearly equal to the black population of the US. Therefore, it shouldn't be surprising for these athletes, as a group, to run equal with the U.S. That JAM was doing so (by the way, they did not dominate the US from 08-16 as they were regularly beaten in the hurdles, 400 and three of the four relays, as well as some open 100 and 200 championships) is reason for much suspicion. It's equivalent to the South Side of Chicago track team trading punches with Black America T&F. But note how regions within Black America have repeatedly done exactly that: South Florida, L.A, the Bay Area/central California, NJ.

The explanation for MAN's big years includes but is hardly limited to drugs that many athletes worldwide had access to.
