Michael Jordan--by a mile.
Michael Jordan--by a mile.
Not so fast - Tiger Woods performs incredibly well under pressure when he's near the lead late in a tournament, especially in the majors.
Michael Jordan definitely. Before the masters there could never have been an arguement for Tiger. You have to be consistent time after time, which Tiger hasn't done.
As an NCAA athlete: Cragg.
Agreed.
Jordan was just sick with under 4:00 left in a game.
Ritzenheim has always been pretty clutch, for an american.
That's interesting. I just saw an Outside the Lines on Carl Lewis. He was pretty damn clutch under the spotlight. About the only time he got beat was by a doper or WR. Think about where you were in 1980 and then 1996. King Carl was on the Olympic team, and every one in between.
Lewis was pretty clutch for a old man at the 96 olympics in the long jump.
Kirk Gibson, Reggie Jackson
how about Big AL OERTER?
Oh geb. Definately Haile Gebrselassie he is incredibly clutch!

That's rediculous, and granted I do feel Michael performed better but not by much. To say that the 2005 Masters is the only time Tiger has performed well is simply not true. Taking just majors alone you have
PGA Championships at Medinah - holds of Sergio on the back nine
2000 PGA Championship - Holds off Bob May sinking a 7 footer on the 18th hole to force a playoff and then the famous playoff where he runs after his putt from 18 feet that basically secured the victory
2001 Masters - Denies Phil Mickelson his first major and holds of David Duval on the back nine
2002 US Open - Denies Phil Mickelson again late in the tourny
2002 Masters - Holds off Goosen and Mickelson again
I'm just citing MAJORS that he held off the competition in tight matches making clutch putts for the win. This doesn't count his incredible record in all tournaments when he's had the lead with one day to play or the times he simply runs away from the field at the majors, tournaments he peaks for.
Woods, second to MJ--by a mile.
I'm not a Patriots fan, but Tom Brady is worth a mention.
1) Michael Jordan
2) Tiger Woods
3) ??
Woods is a stud but this years Masters isn't that great an indication. He had the cool putt on 16 but then lost two strokes over the next two holes and required a play-off to win. It was the first time he's failed to hold the lead when leading going into the last 18 in a major.
Montana and Jordan
Back in the day in World Series play...Brooks Robinson
PELE
Hard to argue with Jordan, Montana, Nicklus, Bird or Tiger, but I'll put forth:
Kareem Abdul Jabbar. The sky hook was deadly when it counted, I don't remember him missing any cruch time. And he made his free throws and played defense at the end of the game as well. As a Laker fan I saw (in person) Wilt, Kareem and Shaq. Kareem was just a stud with the game on the line. Magic made some memorable half court heaves as time ran out in the half, but Magic got Kareem the ball at the end of the game.
Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns.
The kid has got ice in his veins.
I really do not know what to call it but ...........
1970 Game 7 Finals....Willis Reed.
