Edward Chezerek still does not have a pro contract after winning 17 NCAA titles.
He ran a lot of races, often doubling and at times tripling at major championships for the win, points and team results. Apart from his Freshman year, he was never able to run just one race to gain a fast time in order to draw the attention of sponsors except for his indoor mile in 2017.
Perhaps set ups for fast times was going to take place his Senior track season. Unfortunately Chez got injured and we will never know. Looked like he was injured in 2016 and then again in 2017, yet the U of O continued to race him in multiple races.
He doesn't have US citizenship. From what I have read that process has started but may take a long time. Does anyone have updated information on that? Why didn't his coaches at U of O start that process during his Freshman year?
He can't run for the US and he hasn't shown to be fast enough to make a Kenyon team.
Chezerek did everything for School, coach and team. Over the years he provided much to cheer about for T&F and XC fans.
I don't like to point fingers but it seems he was let down by those that gained from him.
I hope he fully recovers from his injuries, gets a good sponsorship, and can compete/represent the United States one day.
