A 6 miles steady state 10 days before the half or earlier is a good test. For me half marathon pace will be 5-10 seconds per mile slower than this run.
a steady state is between HM and marathon pace. i think you meant to say tempo. if so, I agree that's a great indicatorfor the OP, I also like 3-4 x 2-mile slightly slower (like 5 seconds) than HM pace 11-12 days out. Maybe start the first one 10 seconds slower than pace and end the last one 5-10 faster. 2 mins rest or so, but take note to be in control. if you're straining, slow them down
