Hello, this is my first time posting on this site and I've wanted to ask for insight after seeing posts. Here is a little about me:
I started cross country my sophomore year and ended with a pb of 18:39. (Not great I know) I also went out for track and trained with distance but discovered I liked running the 400 when I was placed on the 4x400 team. I missed my entire indoor season due to a stress fracture. I ran it 3 times that year outdoor and ended with a pb of 56 seconds in the 4x400. I was highly motivated next year and did cross again and improved my time. After it ended I lifted and did squatting, plyos, and deadlifts with some of my team mates/coach. I did some base runs like 6-8 miles every other day and a little speed work. I went with the sprinters to train indoor to increase speed and ended up running a 56 indoor. One or two days I'd go with distance and run miles. Outdoor came and I basically stayed at 56 the entire rest of the season including the open 400. Can anyone explain why my time stayed the same like this? I don't understand how my time plateaued. I grew 3 inches this year too. I'm now going to be a senior and want to run at least a 53 or better. Im going to do cross country and will try to lift when I can. I haven't ran much this summer but have gone to the weight room 3-4x a week and done hill sprints. I've done occasional long runs too.
Background info: 5'10" 135lbs, 100 Pr: ?( prob like mid 12) 200 pr: 25.7 400:56 5k: 18:07
Basically what can I do now until my indoor season in February to help reach my goal. I'd like to run a 55 or better indoor and 53 or better outdoor to reiterate. I'm determined and will put in the work, but need advice as my coach hasn't helped me at all with questions I've asked. I apologize too for the long post lol.
