Coach makes me run 15x300m with 1 min rest.
What is this workout good for?
I averaged 54 sec. What can I run 3000 m? Looking for a sub 9'30''.

Lmao'd. That workout your coach made you do is similar to a 5k runner doing 12x400. It's building pace management and race speed without draining you. 56-57 is 5:00/mile pace, or about what you should be aiming for. Although, I believe 4x800 @2:25-2:30 w/ 2 min rest is more indicative and he will probably make you do a workout like that as the season gets more in-depth.

Classic 1500/mile workout. I think you might not quite be in shape for 9:30
Good for younger runners who can't handle 400s. Short recoveries, jogging a 100, is good.
Why are you racing a 3k. You should be getting your base in for XC.

In Europe, summer is track season.
I would not want to do that at mile pace.Would be a good 5k workout if you run at or just under 5k pace. Wont be terribly stressful but good practice making race pace comfortable.Or a pretty tough/solid 3k workout if run at 3k pace.

Honestly, I always felt 12-15 x 300 at mile pace was less stressful than 10x400 at mile pace. Both are hard workouts, for sure. I'm more of a speed-type, though, so shortening the reps always makes things easier.
