So I am just starting out, and trying to not pick up any bad habits while I am slowly ramping up mileage. I know theres some debate on running form, but a common thread nowadays seems to be that as long as you don't overstride, you should be good. I seem to come down lightly on my heel, but quickly go to midfoot before striking off. I thought that I was overstriding, but after measuring my cadence, I consistently jog around at 185. With so many people saying that 180+ cadence will force you to not overstride, my question is: is it possible (or even likely) that one can overstride while maintaining a cadence of 185? I'm wondering if I am just over-analyzing my stride and I am in fact landing under center of mass. For what its worth, I'm having some pretty significant soreness in my hips and achilles, not sure if its from bad technique or just newb pains. Thanks for the help.
