800m races are not clean four turn stagger time trials. Martinez may capable of much faster than 1:58.5 800m. Let's say Martinez is capable of (52.25 to 52.75) 400m. I am going to assume Martinez took more than 90 seconds recovery. When I did 400m repeats in 9th & 10th grade, I often tried to keep up with the faster upperclassmen. I often ran my first two 400s near my 400m PB. Running the first two 400m sub-54 clearly hurt Martinez, thus 57+ third 400m.

lol even with a flying start these workout times are still absurd, most guys who run 3x400 are running it at or as close as possible as their goal pace for the first 400 of an 8, brenda would be running way faster than what she is actually capable of if this workout is real

I saw this last week, too. I had to laugh-- no way she did that workout. The fact that it was on a road and recorded to the hundredth of a second gave away its illegitimacy.

This is not the first time Brenda has posted fake workouts. I remember a year or so ago she posted some ridiculous mile repeat workout that was so far above her ability it wasn't even funny. I don't know why she posts these fabricated workouts-- she has nothing to prove.

Her fake workouts are still not nearly as bad as the ones Aden said Genzebe Dibaba did in 2015, however.

In your opening, you stated you did understand women workouts, now you are implying Martinez is a liar. You didn't state her recovery time. If Martinez stated that she did (10 to 12) 400m and averaged 52.75 for 400m w/60 second recovery that would be one thing. Two 400m near one's PB with recovery is not impossible.

There's a history here. She posted a supposed 4 mile tempo a while back where she averaged at or under 5 min pace. She then ran a 5k race shortly thereafter in something like 15:45.

Comparing a 4 mile workout to a 3.106+ mile race is not proof of anything. If Martinez did a tempo run of 4 miles at 4:59 pace then raced a 3.106+ mile race at 5:04 pace that is not a gotcha. Martinez may have felt good on the day of the training run. I have on more than one ten day block of workouts averaged faster on a 6 x 1200m workout in comparison to a 7 x 800m workout within five to ten days, all with two minute recovery. Kenenisa Bekele has a two mile PB of 8:13.51 (4:06.7/mi.) and 3.106+ mile PB of 12:37.35 (4:03.7/mi.). This does happen.

You are mistaken. We aren't comparing workouts here. We are comparing a workout to a race. There is no way she ran under 20 minutes for 4 miles in a tempo run and then could only manage 15:40 in a race. It wasn't tactical either.

Also, let's use our brains here and maybe figure that Bekele only has a two mile PB of 8:13 because it's run so sparingly.

Have another theory?

Downhill or inaccurate course, pretty likely if it was on the road. Alternative, if it was on the track she probably did 6400m and not 4 mile.

What was the rest on the 400s? It's not a crazy workout with a lot of rest.
