The coach of the college soccer team which recently recruited me to play for, has a 2 mile fitness test which we begin the season by taking.
The test is pretty straight forward, if you run the 2 miles under 12 minutes you pass. However I'd like to be more fit than this and make a nice first impression to my new teammates and coaches so my goal is to run it under 11 minutes.
I recently ran a "mock" 2 mile race and my time was a 12:29. Being unhappy with my time I waited a couple of hours and went for a 5 mile run, which was done in 36:05.
When I ran track in High School I was a sprinter but I wasn't anything special and did not train much, my times were 11.9 in the 100m, 200m was 25, and 400 was 55.
I basically know nothing about running distance and how to improve my time, but I was curious if anyone could answer 1.) Is it possible to get under 11 minutes in the 2 mile from 12:29 in a matter of 6 weeks (preseason starts then) 2. How should I train for this?
Thank you guys so much!
