The Badgers are unquestionably #1 in the state. The state has 4 DI schools, 1 DII school, the WIAC and numerous other DIII schools. Who is #2 through #15 and why?
Who are the other D1 schools? I'm well aware of the Badgers as well as the WIAC, but that is about it.

Marquette's top handful are solid. Though perhaps more mid distance... and a few from the same family.
Marquette University is where wannabe D1s go to die... and shave the sides of their heads to form goofy looking encino man / pauly shore 90s haircuts.

Coach Mike leaves a lot to be desired on the men's side. Brought in a number of very solid recruits recently but the Marquette men's curse carries on and they always seem to fizzle out. The problem is they eventually turn 21 and without a lot of success they basically give up and turn into a bunch of slackers. Would rather hydrate at McGillicuddy's on weeknights than on the practice fields if you get what I mean. The haircuts and "daddy money" only encourage the little pricks. Alums would be pissed.
Having married one of his former athlete's it provokes the reasoning no wonder why the women are Nelson's primary focus and thus performing quite a lot better overall. It's true. But if your son get's into the business school or pursues law or dentistry after the fact you are in a forever kind of fraternity that runs ultra deep in the Milwaukee area. If he wants to be an engineer he should go to Madison where the program is more renowned.

You can do all the hating on Marquette you want, but the fact of the matter is we are the next best after Madison. We return everyone from last year who ran on our championship season roster, which was already better than teams like Lax and UWEC.
Nelson is an amazing coach, we have had Big East champion track teams and school records under him. If those results aren't enough for you, maybe you've noticed that UW-Parkside's coach Tom Breitbach learned a lot under him as an assistant because they are getting better.

FTFY, because lately commits have been stinking once they get in the program.
Olin, Oliver, Benji, Brown, Snider have all turned out to be studs.
Sorry that a bunch of in state fringe talent guys didn't work out. Maybe they should give it another try somewhere else like Kyler did, instead of quitting the sport.
I have a son who is going to be a senior this year and wants to run in college. He is a pretty good runner (hoping to be all-state/podium this fall) and has done it on low mileage.
We are very new at the college decision process but we would like him to stay in state. I wasn't an athlete myself, but I understand that Division 1 and 2 schools can award athletic scholarship money while Division 3 schools can't.
I have done a little research, and based on his times it looks like he could contribute right away at any school besides UW. I certainly wouldn't mind having some part of his schooling be paid for, but I'm wondering why so many D3 schools are being ranked above D1 and D2 programs? Does anyone have some insight about it?
The Wisconsin state schools are a real deal if you're a Wisconsin resident. Rather than get a partial scholarship or no scholarship at a big school, many choose the state schools. Even though they are D3 with no scholarships, you are money ahead, as opposed to a partial scholarship at a D1.
