there is a brand new 9 lane mondo track at kezar stadium, old home of the 49ers, in the heart of the city.

yes, but isn't it about the spectators? it might be a little slower due to the wind but will be a much better experience. everyone hates on alan webb's middle of nowhere american mile record. so what he ran fast, nobody got to watch it. stanford will obviously have more spectators but it's still a small-ass meet. one (6 row?) set of bleachers along the home stretch.

1. There's no curb at Kezar, is there?

2. Less parking than at Stanfurd.

3. And this is the killer (pun intended) problem with having a meet at Kezar Stadium: You might run into Scorpio.

the whole effin crew is in europe now for the circuit

better to have this team junk in october after everyone gets back

1) Traffic and parking issues in SF and around Golden Gate Park

2) Cold and Windy there

3) You don't need that big of a stadium; Cobb is plenty big for the amount of people expected to come.

4) Hotels are a little cheaper for the athletes in the peninsula; also a less expensive flight to SJO.

I was driving through San Fran to the airport and we went by that track and I said, "Why don't they have nationals here?" Then I figured the surface of the track must be shit. Turns out that isn't the case.

The runners can adapt to not having a warm-up track.

right, people say that you should have a football game in a suburb because it's easier to park and the hotels are cheaper. oh, and let's move at&t park over to stanford cause it's too cold and windy by the bay.

Kezar Stadium presently has nine (9) 1.07m (42-inch) lanes of Mondo Super X 720 13.5mm surface installed in Feb. 2015 to NFHS standards. Appears to have IAAF Standard turn radius with 84.4m straights. 10,000 seats. Maybe they could host the USATF meet, WeJo!

But I lived on the Stanfurd campus for several years, and based upon many visits, I can say that S.F. is a lot colder in the summer, especially late summer and October.

I would guess that TrackTown USA decided the location for this meet based upon a number of factors, including the contacts they had at the university and the cooperation they could get. There may be more track fans and more of a track tradition on the peninsula.
