He came down the home stretch at a light jog and then came to a stop and walked the last 5 meters across the finish line. that is a pathetic way to win any sort of national title. He ran 5:12.65 and his PR is 4:40.94 which would have given him 8410 points vs. 8225.

He needed 8200 for the worlds Q. He wasnt going for anything other than 8200. He's 33, and has dealt with a number of plantar injuries for the past few years. Who really cares (other than you)? It was a calculated decathlon... and pretty impressive, at that.
Williams also ran 5:05. His best is 4:3x. He went so slow that he actually went from 2nd to 3rd as a result.
Why do decathletes give up so much
First, it was hot. Second, these decathletes know exactly what they need to score and save their effort accordingly. Wait until World's for all out.

No excuse for jogging it in. Decathletes don't even have to compete in a semi-final like everyone else. they just do the final and they're done.
