Good job Danny Mackey...
At least Drew Windle, who was entered unattached, made the next round.

Nick's heart wasn't in it this year. And he has that girlfriend now that likes to drink beer a lot. Add the ankle thing in and he's done.
Cas is a mental wimp. He can crush 400's on the track, but can't put together a good 800.

You mean like the world leading 800 Cas set this past indoor season where he front ran the whole thing?
why does that make Loxsom a mental wimp? can't handle the pain?maybe he doesn't have the physical talents or proper training to be a great 800m runner? it's an effing brutal race distance with little forgiveness. i consistently split 49.high in high school and only ran 1:56.9. probably only 20-25 miles per weekin college i ran 1:51.5 and when i did i couldn't break 50 on the relay in 4x400m but was strong and could run a 3:50 1500mdifferent strengths and speed

I always felt Cas always had to stretch for the 800, he has always displayed indoor 600 times that have never quite translated to an elite outdoor 800. He's still young and has some of the fastest sprint wheels for US 800m runners so I really hope he figures it out. He was dropped from Brooks Beasts for breaking team conduct rules, he needs to get it together somehow.
As for Symmonds, he was on his last legs. 3 surgeries in 18 months, he just wanted to go out one last time but his time has passed, I mean he was the oldest in the field by 5 years. Don't think beer and a girlfriend were huge factors.
Face it. Nick was a has been 2 years ago
Nick was happy as a clam after the race, he never had any expectations that he would do anything at USAs.
I said after the Portland Track festival that in terms of competitiveness it was a bit of a charade Symmonds running USATFs. But you know what - if there was ever a guy who deserves to go out on his freaking terms it is your 7 time national champ, world championship silver medalist and one of globally the most consistent runners of the last decade and a half. So if he wants to go out finishing last in his heat in a time 9 seconds off his PR - then I'm fine with that.
Loxsom? It's all a bit tragic really. So talented but it proves that really the most important quality in this sport is the side off the track - and he just hasn't had the leadership he needed to get that side down pat. So no shock really he has been deprsssed and is getting well beaten by guys that shouldn't be close to him.
