Murphy will win the 800m. He may qualify in the 1500m but won't win. Anger is vulnerable in the sense that a lot can go wrong in the steeple, but it won't and he will win.
Yes, both Murphy and Jager are very fit with much evidence of it. Lots of hay in the barn. I think US of A is going to bring home medals this summer against strong East African competition. Except the five k. Unless Rupp is in 12:45 shape. Before he started marathoning the line of fit from 10k to 3k to mile indicated that shape
The real question is, will national tv coverage be dismal yet again? Showing only first place and no developments of second to seventh place? I guess one would have to see as a spectator. The videography is terrible. Any Hollywood director could do so much better.
I don't follow the distance side so much.
Can someone fill me in on where Jager has been and how his shape looks this season?
I've been waiting for him to finally crack that 8:00 barrier after that tragic fall where he would have gone 7:56 or 7:57, but if i recall he was in 3:32 1500m shape that season and who knows if he'll ever get back to that.
Again, not a huge distance fan but I love seeing athletes really get after it, and I respect Jager for that and will actually make a point to watch steeple races because of it. Guys like Centro just make me want to fast forward or better yet just check that results online.
As for the 800, my gut tells me that Murphy will take it as he's shown better poise at high levels. I was concerned at first by his very early 1:43.5 but it seems like he's been doing the right thing and laying low since then. But Brazier is phenomenally talented and I'd never put a title past him. In any case its exciting to have two young talents going after a national title.

Rupp isn't even entered in the "five k" dumb dumb.

Are you high? First off, Rupp isn't even entered in the 5K. Second, I'm pretty sure Paul Chelimo has a better chance of medaling in the 5K than Rupp does in the 10K considering, you know, Chelimo got silver last year while Rupp finished 5th.
Also, what evidence is there of Jager being fit?
Jager has had a less than stellar outdoor season, with only a 3:43 bomb to show for it. However, he's been holed up at altitude camp for the last 8 weeks. I'm sure he'll be fine. Dude is a gamer.
