Nice matchup on July 4th in Atlanta:

They'll also square off at USAs in the 10,000m about 10 days before.
This one would have been no contest a year ago. Do you all still see it that way?
Any difference on track vs roads?
Jordan Hasay vs Shalane Flanagan at Peachtree on July 4th

Shalane wins but will be closer than in the past
-
Flanagan all day and twice on the 4th of July.
-
Hasay wins it in 31:57. Flanagan 32:09.
-
Two of my favorites hope it's a good race

Hasay

Heat will determine a few things, Shalane as you recall was stumbling in LA trials marathon heat. Jordon has done ok in the heat.
Has Jordon raced since Boston? Anything scheduled between now and the 4th?
Missing though is who else is running? What pace will they run to get rid of these two athletes? -

Agreed. Shalane is still the better runner at any distance 10,000 meters and up. She also has far more road experience.
In a year or two this probably gets a lot more interesting. -

Jordan Hasay is racing the 5000 at Stumptown tomorrow evening. -
When has Hasay ever accomplished anything at 10K?
We know what Shalane's accomplishments are.
The only way this race is even close is if Hasay is better prepared for a 10K, regardless of Boston and Shalane is more focused on marathon. Even then I have Shalane for the win. -

While I don't know how this 10,000 will play out, I have to argue that Shalane is not necessarily better at that distance and up. Her PR is what, two minutes faster than Hasays debut on an easier course. That's not much for someone who's had so many shots at it. -
Interesting... This is a close call IMO. Wont make a prediction till after USA's.
-
No contest. Shalane will crush Jordan.

They both drop out before the race starts and the race is won by a B Kenyan.
If they're both in the race the betting odds will have to favor Hasay, we have evidence of her fitness and not Flanagan. -
Hasay wins at least one of these, or else both.
She's not the same runner since moving to the marathon, is much better now. -

Didn't Flanagan just run a road race in the last week or 2?
When is the last time Hasay has run a race shorter than the marathon? -
49:28 15k at USA 15k Road Championships in the Florida heat in March.
1:07:55 half marathon at Prague on April 1 in anticipation of Boston.
I don't think she gets Flanagan given her recent 31:38 on the track. -

Dang, you're right, I didn't realize she ran 31:38 in Portland!
Hasay ran a 67:55 half marathon on April 1. That converts to a 30:47. It's 32:11 pace for a 10K.
Still think one of them drops out before the race starts, that's what the last several track meets I've tried to watch have been like. -
Hasay will do well at Peachtree. But isn't it a bit surprising that she's running the 10,000 at USAs? I can see running the 5,000 this weekend; and I can surely see her running Peachtree. But why the 10,000? If she qualified, would she run Worlds? She must have recovered very well from Boston, and her training must be going very well.

Hasay is most likely to take Peachtree 10K. Not sure if Stumptown 5K tomorrow night is meant to be a 100% effort - more likely its just to get her back in a competitive track setting and maybe see what kind of kick she can muster over final 800.
