How does a DQ take precedence over a DNF when a DNF has more repercussions? Deajah Stevens should have the DNF > DQ and should not have been able to run the 4x4.

She should not have been running secondary to the honest effort rule.
Georgia should be declared the winners.

seriously though. I can't find anywhere in the rule book that says a DQ takes precedence over a DNF either. how was this decided??
Thanks Nike

Well, if she was a DQ, then she wasn't a DNF as far as the results status. What difference does it make when a DQ occurs? If you false start - DQ. If you impede a runner - DQ. That's your final result. Doesn't matter if you finished the race and would have broken the world record, your result is DQ. (I think it was Stevens who was DQ'ed at indoor natty's when she would have broken the Collegiate and/or American record. I know one of the Brojos said multiple times she ran the record, but as far as the official results and records are concerned, she had a DQ, not a record. Doesn't matter what happened otherwise, even if the DQ is dumb.) Likewise, if you don't finish the race, the result is still listed as DQ, not DNF. If you false start, you don't get to finish the race, but as far as I know you can still compete in other events. So it would seem an official result of DQ means the honest effort doesn't apply. I think the correct decision was made. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
The biggest farce is when a runner purposely false starts, no honest effort there.
So you're saying that when the US messes up their handoffs in the next World Championships, it should be listed as a DNF and not a DQ? That doesn't really make sense.

I mentioned that in my post on the meet thread - doing that would be a clear violation of the spirit of the rule, but I don't see how they would be able to fairly judge intent. I suppose it's better to leave that as a loophole than punish someone in multiple races who honestly wanted to race them all and simply false started.

I stand corrected. Someone posted the rules in the meet thread, and I guess purposeful false starts can have the honest effort rule applied against them. Although I feel like you'd have to fake it pretty bad to get hit by this rule.
Lining up for a race and doing anything other than basically giving a half assed effort ( maybe jogging or dropping out without trying is considered an unhonest effort.) You basically have to abandon the event and then not have your coach appeal for this to apply.

She ran like 90% of the goddamn race in 1st place. Just shut up, you sound stupid. Half of her body was in the other lane after she fell. That's a DQ
So she stepped into another lane when she fell, so your saying she stopped running and walked off the track because she was like: what the hey, I'm dq'd anyway let me just walked off the track and not finish this race bc I know they're going to DQ me and I'll just go recover for the 4x4. At r you serious. You guys honestly don't know what your talking about. Oregon 4x4 should be dq' for letting her run, Nike has officially corrupted the school sports program, compromised the student athletes, and is ruining the integrity of track and field on all levels.

Yeah yeah you don't like Nike and Oregon we get it.
Most elites also believe a DNF is not really an L. I was a club runner post collegiate. As soon as I'd pass guys from a certain team who thought they were better they'd drop out to save face. I guess it helped their ego.
She was DQ'd because her teammates touched her when trying to help, falling into another lane on a straight won't get you DQ'd unless you impede another runner.
