Could anyone run a mile at their current marathon pace with no training?
Could anyone run a mile at their current marathon pace with no training?
Well considering a marathon is longer than a mile, I would sure hope so
current marathon PR pace = 5:49
first time I ever tried to time trial 1mi as a new runner at age 18 = 6:10ish
so no.
Usually not a good idea to run a marathon with no training.

My current marathon pace with no training is 12:00 pace. But if I could run a marathon at that pace, I could run a mile at that pace. I could run 26 miles at that pace. By definition.
First ever mile, totally untrained at age 18 in jorts (it was 1990) and trainers with no warm up: 5:0x.
Marathon pace as a masters runner:5:4x-5:5x.
Even if I took a year off, assuming I didn't get fat, I think I would be able to break 5:40 without much of a challenge.
If I interpret your question the same way Smoove did:
First timed mile in my life, age 15 and untrained, was just under 8:00. My lifetime best marathon was at 6:13 pace. So the answer is no, although perhaps it's not fair to compare the untrained 15-year-old to the trained 33-year-old.
