This is going to be fun. Jakob Ingebrigtsen will run the International Mile Saturday.
Based on his race in Portland 3.43 he looks to be in OK shape.
Maybe good for a 3.58??

3:59.14
I think if he paces well a 3:58 is definitely possible. His last race was really good, he went his own pace all the way. If he pushes a bit harder here he'll go sub 4. The current 16yo mile record is 4:06 so he will crush that!
He can run 3:57 - 3:58 for a full mile in the right race. Very impressive for an actual 16 yr old.
interesting that henrik is in the same race (and not in the bowerman).
Henrik was injured all last year. Since all the brothers have been in the USA training for some weeks, it is nice to get some racing in.
Hopefully, he will be back on track.
3:58 easy
DJP
Fun fact.
The city Jakob Ingebrigtsen is from awarded him NOK 20,000 USD 2,400 due to good results. The money can be used for training camps, travel or education expenses.

Has nobody told him that European runners are genetically inferior to Africans?
doesn't apply to the 1500m. Only to 5000m-marathon with overwhelming
evidence.

He's already ran 14:38 for the 5000m...not a bad time for a 15 year old. That's faster than any British 16 year old has ever ran for the distance.
Might have been posted already but here is a list of every record for every age. According to this, the record is indeed 4.06 for a 16 year old. Steve Cram is the record holder for a 17 year old (3:57).

I wonder if the sudden resurgence in young white middle-distance talent might have something to do with the old races appearing on YouTube in the last few years?
in the 2000s, young white runners had no experience of the pre-African era. Now they can see Ryun, Wottle, Walker, and the Golden Brits on YouTube, demolishing Africans and even running times comparable to the best today.

Driouch ran 3:50 as a 17 year old, so 3:57 wouldn't be the WR.
"The best performances by 5- to 19-year-old athletes from 48 countries"
It's not a Age Group World Record list brother

There's some truth to that. It also depends on the background of a youngster as well, meaning whether or not they've brainwashed by the MSM, most of which paints whites as incapable of anything. Keep in mind the folks who own and run most of the MSM do not consider themselves white even they look it and others might consider them as such.

Or maybe just "I can be at least as good as my big brothers" ?

Do the likes of Clayton Murphy have big brothers who are established stars (genuine question)?
Jakob's brothers were very very good, but they're not Olympic champions or WR holders. Lots of white athletes have had world class big brothers, but they're not on track to become the greatest middle-distance runner ever as Jakob is if he continues his progression (big if, obviously).
I was only being half-serious with my original comment. It's probably a lot of factors, him having experienced successful big brothers is obviously probably a bigger one. Still, it's often suggested here that the reason for white decline has been the ingrained belief that they can't compete with the top Africans (or even the second tier Africans).

Coincidence? I don't think so.
