I'm a freshman in high school (14 y/o) considering switching to sprints. I've ran both indoor and outdoor track this year but it's my first year of track. Before this I played soccer for 9 years (quit this year), where I was always the fastest sprinter of anyone I met.
PRs
400 53 mid (Basically solo relay split, I jogged this in)
500 1:14.45 (Easily won my heat, jogged it in as well.)
800 2:08.78
1600 4:55 (I ran this during indoor season and despite hitting somewhat better times in training I have only run 4:59, twice)
3200 11:10.21
HJ 5'8 (2 of the 4 meets I have jumped, I really should have done higher than this by now but I haven't gotten a good opportunity)
Also when messing around with long jump with friends I jumped about 20 feet without any technique or measuring run up.
Finally, I really just don't enjoy distance very much. My legs and especially calves are massive compared to basically everyone I know and I can dunk at only 5'10 (~150 lbs). I can't stop putting on muscle no matter what I do. I honestly don't know why I decided to run distance in the first place. The reason I stick around is because the distance runners all want me to stay with them. Recently though, I have trouble keeping up on easy days at slow paces with people that I destroy in workouts. Also, I don't know if it matters but I am incredibly vascular, however this could just be because I eat very healthy.
tl;dr I kinda hate distance and I am not improving. I want someone to tell me to switch.
