After impressive wins at NCAAs indoors, she's a double champ at Pac 12s (granted, she didn't have to face Cranny/Aragon/Fraser). She's turning into a big meet performer and seems like she's capable of running much faster than she has. I know she was good in HS but did she show big potential? Is she gonna win the 1500 at NCAAs? Pull a "Jenny B at Pre" type surprise at USAs or another big pro meet?
I think Wetmore will indeed have her run the 1500m at NCAA's, but would it be better for her to run the 5k?
1500m she has Karista Nelson, K Edwards, Cranny, Aragon, Rainsberger, maybe Neale, R and F Price, N Hiltz, T Haiss, Kock, Hull, Piccirrilo, Moye, S Buttner, Rivers, etc, there's 17 girls under 4:15 in the NCAA right now, that's crazy and a lot of them are gamers
5k she has Schweizer, Neale, Buchalski, Kemp, Rohrer, Receuver, there's only 7 girls under 15:45 in the NCAA and the only ones who have deadly kicks are Scweizer and Neale
You have to think Jones could run in the 15:30's and since Schweizer has run 15:19, she's the only one who can outrun her (although Neale beat her in a 15:39 race earlier this season), and Neale can only out kick her (Neale only finished 0.02 behind her in the 5k at PAC 12's).
Jones is a gamer herself, but the 1500m is risky, the 5k could also be, maybe I'm just overestimating her strength, but she looked really good in her indoor 3k's, and that PAC 12 5k AFTER winning the 5k

She should try the 10k
Yeah she's a total beast. I'd say she should stick to the 1500 as she's run 2:04 in the 800 this year as well (although I can imagine that could be really helpful for her in a tactical 5k final). Totally destroyed Rainsberger twice this weekend too, especially in the 1500 where she tactically won by pretty much a full second. According to her tfrrs page this was her 5k debut, which makes this even more impressive. Maybe she dodged Cranny this weekend, but she did beat her twice indoors at NCAA's (and by a lot in the 3k). Definitely a contender.
The only challenger in the 1500 for her is Edwards. Cranny is the next best runner and Jones has run her down twice on the dmr indoors. The other girls are not serious challengers.
The same is true in the 5k. Schweizer is the only challenger.

In terms of class, I would agree.
Although, I'd put Cranny > Edwards as Edwards hasn't looked as well as last season.
Notables: Hiltz, Aragon, R Price, Nelson, Buttner
In the 5k, it's really hard to pick against Schweizer and she's so deadly from 1200m out, she's really in her own class in terms of creds
Notables: Neale and Rorher (10k will take a toll)
There's just so many more contenders in the 1500m. It's going to be cut throat. The women's 1500m this year might be one of the best fields in NCAA history, especially if Jones is in it.

I don't know how you can say Schweizer is in a class of her own when Amy Eloise Neale beat her at 5k at Stanford, and when Dani Jones beat her at 3k at NCAA indoors. Abbey D was in a class of her own, and even she lost at NCAAs her senior year.
I think Dani Jones will win whatever event she enters at NCAAs.

AllieO ran 16:20 at Mountain West this weekend, at altitude so that should qualify. If healthy next month she should be in the mix (15:21 or so last summer at OTs).
That said Dani Jones seems to be the real deal and hope she has a great NCAAs.

In a class of her own in terms of PR (15:19) and how dominant she's looked during the regular season. Jones narrowly beat her in the 3k at Nat's and she had a 15:19 in her legs vs a 1600m from Jones. Neale beat her in a 15:39 which is why I said earlier, only Schweizer can out run her as she won't be able to our kick her. Jones ran 16:12 to win PAC 12's and while I'm sure that race was tactical, it's no way indicative of what her flat out ability is in the 5k. Some one will push this pace so it will NOT be a 16:12 race; Rohrer will hopefully make it honest depending on how the 10k goes. SO sorry for my ignorance but where has erin finn been? can certainly be a factor in the 5,000m as well but i am assuming an injury since i havent heard anything about her since indoors?
The entire Colorado team seems to be having a breakthrough track season. Maybe the new facility is kicking in?

Snickering at your lol, Alice Wright is a legit talent with an NCAA runner up spot in the 10000 and a top 5 for XC. You would expect a close race between those two in a conference meet.
