Looking into buying some half tights, but I'm having difficulty deciding between fitted versus compression- do you guys have a preference or notice a difference between the two when you are racing?

This is an honest question. I always wore an athletic supporter to run in. Now (years later) I am taking over the head coaching position at a high school and I wonder whether compression shorts serve the same functional purpose (and do the athletes need a specific kind or are they all made that way). I've honestly never heard of fitted half-tights.
Compression is pretty much an umbrella term for most fitted items. UA are top of the line, because no other brand can compete with their quality of compression shorts. They created the market for it. Too bad their other products are crap
Most of the compression stuff that are sold in running shoe stores and athletic stores are meant for running, swimming, etc. , etc. Those items are light compression, which are the ones you should buy.
The other kind of compression is strong compression, which can be very difficult to move in. That type of compression is used to provide extra support during strength training and doing power drills. That type of compression would be very difficult to run in. Everything will feel super tight, and your muscles will feel like they are being strangled.
not a bad description
most products will say whether they are 'compression' or not.
most of of the short tights are very comfortable to run in
strong compression is not easy to run in, but can help post-run recovery
