Totally agree. I am from OR and we have known what a stud he was since he doubled at D3 nats (won both) in the 1500/800. He has got some major wheels and if he keeps this up he will definitely have a career in running after college.

He could break Paranya's records this year (3:38/3:57). And still have another year to go. Karl went on to run a 3:54 and rank twice nationally. Symmonds is capable of more.

He is getting close..what did he run at the Oregon (Twilight?) mile last year? Like 4:04 and beat Mike McGrath..Nick is pretty good, especially for Division 3. We shall see what kind of 1500 he can put together against fast guys..Good luck to him! (and Willamette too)

I think that he might be able to run close to Karl's times. He is definitely running the same kind of times that he did when Karl ran 3:57 for the outdoor mile to become the first sub 4 guy for d3. I just hope that Nick runs some faster races with some competition. He should not have been in these slower heats at MT Sac. Is he running anything else?

An Idaho boy tearing it up...if this is the same guy from Southern Idaho? I saw him at Sawtooth Relays a few years back and have heard he is doing good at Williamette, a school I raced a few times and loved there track and xc course in the park. Keep it rollin man!!

Symmonds had the fastest 800 on the day. He ran faster than the so called studs in the night meet. Nice work!

Good Call. If Symmonds was able to run on sunday I bet he breaks 3:43/1:48 depending on what he runs. He seems to be very ready to run fast. The boy from Idaho is definitely representing.

Is symmonds running anything else or is he just running the 800? If he just ran 1:48.9 he is ready to run 3:43-44. Just curious.

Anyone see Austin Abbott from Washington, freshman who ran 3:44.36 yesterday, I never heard of him in high school.

That moves him to 6th all-time. Old PR was 1:49.51.

1:47.56 is the best ever.

This 800 is awesome and Syms is awesome, but saying that he is ready for 3:38 or 3:57 is a stretch in my mind. His best 1500 is something like 3:46. Eight seconds is a lot to take off. I could see him going 3:43 this year, which would be sweet for DIII. But 3:38 is still 5 seconds faster than thet. Maybe next year?

Abbott (true freshman) Ran 4:15 and 1:52 in HS. Never ran XC, and played Golf and Basketball during high school. He's finally started training seriously at UW and ran a nice 4:09 mile early on. A few weeks later, he dropped that to 4:02. He also ran 1:48 indoors. And, along with his excellent 3:44 outdoors, he's run 1:48.43. Exciting future to come!

I saw the race on friday, very impressive. Symmonds got boxed in early, then made a nice move on the homestretch to take over the lead. He was at about 55.1 for the 400, so he ran about 53.8 on the second lap and really pulled away the last 100.

Who's the bigger D3 stud? Rock...or Symmonds (1:45.83 for 2nd)? Okay...Rock, but that's a big PR for Symmonds!

Does this still count as a D3 record for Symmonds (improving his 1:47.xx from a few weeks ago)? Or has he passed the period where his times still count towards Willamette/D3 running? Either way, 1:45.xx is absolutely BONKERS for a guy who ran 1:47 a month ago.
