Consistent with what? If you believe life starts with the first breath (i.e. several religions), then abortion is fine. If you believe life starts when a zygote is formed you end up with different conclusions and a bunch of assisted reproductive techniques are off the table. Science can never answer that question. If we want to let one religion impose its will on the people is another.
The thing that is not logical is prolife with things like rape and incest exceptions. Either the zygote is a life form or it isn't. How it was created shouldn't matter. Funny enough something like 85% of the population is in favor of rape exceptions (only about 55-60% are prochoice in most surveys). So basically 25-30% of the population is ok killing babies some of the time even though they are "prolife".
Better birth control is the real solution to the abortion debate. But a lot of people are really against that because they prefer to live in fantasy land instead of reality.
