800m pacing advice.

Try running 30.5 for each 200.

1 second "bleed out" per 200. 4 second differential between 400s

2:02.0= 59/63

29.0-30.0-31.0-32.0

That early pace will not be TOO fast and will give you a chance if you are FIT and can handle the acid environment. If you are mature and seasoned as a racer you can limit your differential. Go out at the same first 400 just finish a little faster and try to keep the pace more even.

Biggest problem is people go out too fast and settle.

The get out nicely for the first 100, then settle and come through 200m. They may hear a split say 29.0. The problem is, they are already running slower than 29 pace. But they stay too relaxed and the pace really drops in the second 200. They may hear 61, but they are actually travelling slower than 61 pace when they hear the split.

Thanks. I do know for a fact that the 56 opening was way too fast, but I also am not afraid to admit that being 16 I tend to react to being passed instead of trusting a race strategy like you suggested. In my next meet my goal is to definitely run a more mature race and stick to my splits.
