I ran in college, wasn't great, liked cross country the best, only once ran just under 15 (for 5k outdoors). I said I wasn't great. But, I've always liked running and still run. I run a lot of 10k's and enjoy racing and doing pretty well at small races. However, I have zero desire to run a marathon. The thought of racing hard for 26 miles (and a bit) just sounds horrific. I can see me running until the day I die, but never running a marathon. This seems to be the opposite of what everyone else does. People start running longer and longer distances as they get older.
Am I alone on this? Is there anyone who has run consistently from college into their 30's, 40's etc. and not run a marathon? I'm 27 right now, will I get into my 30's or 40's and suddenly want to run a marathon? I just don't see why anyone would want to race more than 10k.
