No wind aided asterisk. Can he break Hall's AR?
No wind aided asterisk. Can he break Hall's AR?
No
Hall does not have an AR in the marathon.
Now, as far as this weekend, unless there 3-4 minutes worth of wind at his back like Hall had, no he can't.

Ceteris Parabus, same wind conditions, does it happen?
And nobody has run a faster marathon than Hall's 2:04:58.
Your Welcome

The AR is owned by KK.

Feel like he ought to have an asterisk by his record as well.

Maybe because most of his life he was not a US citizen.

Like the eraser asterisk Rupp will have after the drops the Mega-Hammer on his and Salazar skulls.

Boooooooo. KK did all of his good running while living and training in the U.S.
Cool story, great runner. Had one of the greatest marathon wins ever.
No asterisk needed.

Unlike many other athletes, once Khannouchi moved here, he stayed.
He isn't like Farah or the Robertsons who live and spend 95% of their time in one country, and then go off and compete for another. Nearly all of Khannouchi's training was done in the US from the moment he arrived. The only major exceptions are when he had to go abroad for competition.
His coach is American, he became a US citizen, his training was done in the US, and every major competition he has participated in has been after his arrival.
Rupp does not seem to run for time, he runs behind the leaders and then kicks anywhere from 100-600 meters from the finish, I think he will win, if 2nd is 2:09.40 Rupp will be about 2:09.35-38, if 2nd is 2:04.50 Rupp will be 2:04.45-48.
They usually don't run that fast in Boston, when Hall ran 2:04.58 Hall pushed the pace on a day with a tailwind, Flanagan pushed the pace in the woman's race 1 year, leading to fast times, Rupp does not push the pace he runs behind the leaders and lets the pick the pace.
Rupp will almost certainly run faster than 2:04.58 probably multiple times, but it will be in Dubai/Berlin Type race/s where people are going at World Record pace for most of the race and then hold on as much as possible.
Rupp took off in the Marathon Olympic trials with miles to go, because he was so much superior to everyone in that race that his comfortable pace for him, broke the field, Monday I expect him to just outkick 2nd place, not run away from them.
Kinda hard to kick for first when you're 2 miles back behind the Kenyans
I guess you didn't watch the Rio marathon where Rupp was two miles ahead of all but 2 East Africans.

You missed the point completely. Nobody has denied a single thing you said. It doesn't matter how cool his story was. He probably appreciates being a citizen more than most US citizens do. But two years prior to that record he was not a citizen. Are you looking to take that COOL part of his story away from him?

You don't get brownie points for being American longer.

Most of my life, I was not a High Schooler. But, when I became a high schooler, I broke my school record.
Point is, him not being an American citizen for "half his life" does not matter of if he was an American citizen when he broke the record.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
