Anyone trained in the Zoom Streak Eldoret? I think I'm going to try to start training in flats and was thinking about getting a pair of the Eldorets.

If this is your first time training in flats, the Streak Eldorets may not be a good choice. If you're looking at staying with Nike, try a pair of Zoom Marathoners and cut the plastic part on the outsole so it isn't as stiff. If you have flat feet, you may have a hard time running in the Streak Eldorets because they have a pretty curved last.
blazinbison,
Thanks for the reply. I am fairly neutral. I think I'm trying to stay away from a shoe with plastic on the outsole, and don't really want to have to cut any piece of the shoe. I am not really worried about staying with Nike. I've been running in a pair of old Asics Tiger Paws and they feel really good. I've also been walking around in a pair of Nike Ekiden flats. I dont think the Ekidens feel as good as the Tiger Paws. I was looking at the newest Tiger Paws, but it looks like the heal height is higher compared to some other flats.
Would recommend a minimal shoe without too many doodads. The new Tiger Paw should be OK, but I haven't tried it. If you're talking about the Nike Zoom Streak XC (the eldoret is a spike!) I have this shoe and it's quite nice, but not as cushy as the tiger paw. It also seems to break down very quickly.
Have you taken a look at the zoom waffle racers ? I'm wearing this as a street shoe and have done a few runs in them. You might like them. Very simple design, low heel, good durability. Some of the NB models might also fit in with what you're looking for (e.g. the 205)
I was talking about the Zoom Streak Eldoret which is a racing flat in the Fall 04 Nike Mens Footwear catalog. I have an old Eastbay here and they have the Nike Zoom Streak XC and they look just like the Streak Eldorets but they are $15 cheaper. I read the profiles of both shoes and it sounds like it might be the same shoe.
I'm also looking at a newer Nike catalog and the Air Zoom Katana Racer II's look really nice but they have the TPU molded shank on the bottom which Im not too sure that I would like.
I'm looking at some of the New Balances like the 750, 550, and the 205, but just don't know. I've never worn a NBA shoe before but would be willing to give one a shot.
