Yes you are right! for the past 6 to 7 years track distance running (psychologically) has gone backwards. Their approach to racing is like they were in the 1960's (wait, sit and then kick, let somebody else do the work) Not like the eras between late 1980's all the way to 2008 where you were not just tactical but you were willing to go all out and bury everyone (kamikaze style) but they were fit, very fit. Take a look at Bekele, Haile, Tergat, Komen, etc, this people would put everything on the line, no matter what, either die winning or loose but trying hard all the way. if the other guy would eventually win, he had to pay a big prize for it. Now, you just wait, hang in there, let somebody else do the work and with 1200 meters to go then you start to race (Farah) Take a look at Haile's races, Bekele's or even Lasse Viren this people would give you fight till the end from starting from the gun.
