yeah, those damn african imports always lie about their age. i'm betting he's at least 45. bastard.
He just turned 20. Age diesn't matter...this is Division One.
get your head out of your arse and learn to recognize sarcasm. and what's with saying "but this is D1"? D1 is the division that HAS age restrictions. and for the record i'm all for foriegn athletes in the ncaa.
do they drug-test the winners?
And don't forget, it's far easier to import talent than to develop it! I mean, come on, haven't you been watching the Simpsons: "Son, if something's hard, it's not worth doing."
Remember, easier is always better... And importing is the fastest way for a program to pick up respect. Remember UTEP? Man, I respect them...
Yea, you should have realized the sarcasm when he said he bets Kiplagat is at least 45.
As previously stated, DI DOES have age restrictions. But the individual stated, "age diesn't matter." "Diesnt" possible could mean something else, please comment.
no, but they drug test idiots...
He's 24, his teammate told me so
just for the record, he's 22. now drop it.[quote]Chowdahead wrote:
22????? Does anyone look outside USA?
wow, I thought he may hae been a little older... but 29?? Is that site for real?
Yes it is the official stat collector for IAAF and is the most up-to-date stat site on the net for Track & Field. You can get info on any athlete good or fairly good on it. It is always suspect when there is no record of an athlete before he gets to the USA. No athlete suddenly runs sub 14 in the 5000m if he has not run before. Ask any coach or athlete....unless you have changed you name.

That may very well be a different Richard Kiplagat on the IAAF site. Kiplagat is a fairly common name in Kenya. If you go to this link, you will see that there are 2 Richard K's listed. He also ran well enough in x-c to equal this time on the track.:

D1 age restrictions don't apply for track.
When did he finish high school and where? That will tell you how old he is. With our group we don't accept athlete who finished after '98 - even if their birth certificate says they're 15.

There seems to be two with the name of Richard Kiplagat... The other one is more likely to be in "our" interest, but surprise no age! Good site though!
I turned 20 two weeks ago. Any other questions?
Hey washedup, Kiplagat is 20. Yeah he's older than most frosh, but this D. 1 and who gives a f***. This is America. Don't blame him. He came to the US to make life better for himself and hopefully for his family. He appreciates this opportunity...just ask him. He's a good kid who works real hard at his running and school work (3.6 GPA fall). Don't rag on him. His best 5k was 14:27 and just ask the Iona guys how hard he works. He's a real team guy. You should have seen him going nuts cheering on his room-mate, Tyler Cardinal (8:17.18) in the 3k. Guys like Richard add to his team with his positive outlook. Well done RK
