I'm slow, and i know sub 40 10k is slow, but it's a goal that I can hit this year. What were the mile or km splits you ran when you got under 40 min for the 10k?

I was on a team progression run and we closed the last 2 miles in 11:28ish and it ended up being 6:23 pace for like 6.3 miles or something.

Probably 6:25, 6:25, 6:25, 6:25, 6:25, 6:25 on a training run some Saturday morning in HS. Wasn't particularly noteworthy, so I didn't write it down in my journal.
I should have wrote sub 35 min 10k for my question then adjusted the time to fit my snail pace. Thanks anyways
Greetings!
Here were my splits last time I raced a 10k Very Very Hot and Very Hilly Course
1-6:06
2-6:36
3-6:12
4-6:24
5-6:26
6-6:20
.2-6.20
It was a bridge style race on a humid day straight up straight down! Through a short flat then repeat. A good plan is to shoot for even splits. This got me 2nd place that year.

Hope this helps!
6:25.13
6:12.68
6:27.12
6:21.42
6:43.66
6:24.43
0:52.08 for final 0.16 per gps
39:27 total. fairly hilly course
I've improved to 36:30 range, in spite of now being mid 40's, with a lot more miles.
A few months before I ran my first sub-5 mile, I regularly ran a 6.45 mile loop in roughly 39:30 to 40:00 once a week or so. My first official sub-40 10K race, about 3 year & four months later, my one mile split was 5:28.
Wow. let's see I was about 13 yrs old so kinda hard to remember back that far.
Probably happened during my jog to school in grade 7 or something
From my logbook:
1 - 9:00 (felt strong)
2 - 9:20 ( a bit uphill)
3 - 8:50 (downhill)
4 - no split
5 - no split
6 - no split
6.2 - 39:59
My first 10k was a July 4th race the summer before my sophomore year of high school. Had no idea how to pace myself so splits were 5:43, 5:57, 6:04, 6:11, 6:14, 6:19, and 1:21 for the last bit to finish in 37:50. That race made me realize how crappy my endurance was. I immediately increased my mileage for the rest of the summer and entered the xc season a completely different runner.
5k 13.34
second 5k 13.24 26.59
hope that helps. good luck
Chris
Many moons ago....
6:27
6:27
6:31
6:33
6:25
7:30 for the final mile plus.
I don't remember. I was only 11.
Looking up my old logs 19:25/19:53 GPS splits on a 13K race on rolling terrain, it won't help you much. Anyway, you should target for even effort, that is even pace on a flat course.
