As Rusathletics.com learned, the former deputy director of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Physical Culture and Sports (VNIIFK), Sergey Portugalov, was found guilty of violating several articles of the IAAF Anti-Doping Rules: 32.2 (f) "Possession of a Prohibited Substance or Method", 32.2 (g) "Dissemination or attempted distribution of a prohibited substance or method", 32.2 (h) "Appointment or attempt to designate a Prohibited Substance or Method" of the IAAF Anti-Doping Rules.
On March 10, 2017, CAS ruled that Sergey Portugalov had been suspended for life. Disqualification came into force from the moment the decision was made.
