I am racing tomorrow in a blazing fast 800 race with most of the field under 1:56. I can run a 2:02 and am seeded last. Is there any strategy to help me mentally? I am afraid I will get discouraged and have a bad performance

Lay off the pace in the first 200m and pick up the pieces.
Go out in last for the first 200, then make it a goal to pass at least one person for every 200, the rest of the way. Hopefully that might give you a little more motivation than just "hanging on'".
Be confident and believe in yourself. Now, go out there and kick some serious 800 runners! Good luck and let us know you do.
This is the perfect situation. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE.
So, you gotta ask yourself, are you content to wallow at the back, a literal afterthought for 800 meters? Or do you want to be the guy who sets the narrative, the man who decides the fate of your competitors?
Go out as hard as you can, then speed up. Try to see how much you can gap the field at 300 meters. When you start to fade and everyone is set to pass you, pretend to hardcore rig up (probably won't take much actual pretending) and flail around the track. Eventually fall to the ground and sob once you are back in last place.
You won't beat anyone, but honestly you were never going to anyway. But you most definitely will change the dynamics of the races and likely the outcome as well. Because of your antics, some guy is going to have his strategy ruined and will finished lower than he would have had you just idled at the back of the pack for 800 meters. So, in a way, you will have defeated this guy. You! defeating a sub 1:56 guy! You can do it. Just really sell the performance though. Go all the way.
Good luck.
You're never too young to start running on "Pure Hate", but be careful because this method of racing is not for the timid.

Totally agree!
hate
just pure hate
just sit in and hang on. Perfect opportunity for a breakthrough race, potential
sub 2.
You have a couple of options. One poster is correct that you have nothing really to lose and are expected to get last. Going out fast would be fun to try and you would 'make the race' but its gonna be painful and you likely won't PR. But if you just go out nice and easy and get on the back of the pack then start moving from 500-600 you'll a lot more likely to have a big PR.
This is a great opportunity to run a big PR and I say run smart and try to pick off kids in the second half of the race
Just win, baby.
