My son recently started running track for his local high school. He is in 7th grade and I wasn't expecting much when he started. The team had a time trial the other day in which they all ran the mile. He ended up surprising almost everyone and running a 5:10. One of his assistant coaches (former recruiter for track and xc) said he had a chance at getting college scholarships if he could consistently improve upon that time. Do any of you guys have any knowledge of weather this statement had any ground to stand on? I was just wondering because it seemed pretty outlandish due to the fact that he wasn't even top 15 on the team. Thank you
