What's the best way of training to get in good shape for 1500m right up through to half marathon?
General targets:
71's for the half, 32's for 10k, 15's for 5k, 8:59 for 3k and 4:10 for 1500m
I'm 19, and been running for 4 years. 16:08 5k PB. I have plenty of basic speed, and decent endurance. I can handle a lot of mileage, 100+. I dont have certain dates of races, just want to consistently train and keep improving.
Was thinking 100 miles a week, Sunday 20 miles at a good aerobic pace, Tuesday Tempo Run (Alternating each week between 4-8 miles), Friday Track work (Alternating each week between short intervals and long intervals), then just easy/steady running. Strides 2 or 3 times a week. Is that a good plan? Not too much intensity, as I want to keep it going for a long training block. Will take recovery weeks if and when needed. Building the base while keeping speed work in check. Thoughts?
