Just last night, I raced on a 200m banked indoor track against highly-competitive athletes in the 1000m. Everything was fine until the last 400m. Then it became a free-for-all, people were pushing, elbowing, and fighting for a spot at states (only top three). Unfortunately, I was in the middle of this and actually pushed one of the runners outside the banked track. The guy who I pushed ended up walking off the track and not finishing. Fortunately, I ended up qualifying for states. Should I apologize? Should I try to communicate with the guy I shoved? I feel pretty bad, yet, I know I worked hard for that State spot. Any suggestions, recommendations, concerns, or comments would be very appreciated.
