Me thinks you hit the nail on the f***ing head!!!
So I email my future coach for college and he says his training style is the one like Bill Roe's.
Does anyone have info on this Bill Roe character, much less his training methods? Never heard of this guy. Coach says its a modified Lydiard plan.

Bill is a great guy. He is the president of USTAF. He coaches or used to coach at Western Washington University. Sorry but I have no idea about his training philosophy.
Your coach will probably be:
1) Highly visible, much more so than his athletes.
2) Spend most of his time on the computer.
3) Wear sandles and shorts even in the cold dark of winter
4) Drink alot of beer
5) "Promise" to communicate openly with his team
6) Pretend to be your friend but talk shit about you behind your back every chance he gets
7) Ignore the drug use by your fellow team members
8) Lecture on the beauty of New Zealand and secretly wish he was there instead of working with you
9) His strings will be pulled by an ex coach who is a legend in his own mind, but because he loves to play the race card, your coach won't be willing to show him the door
10) Will be missing from practice most days as he makes appearances at all the major meets in the world.
As a result:
You will leave 4 years later running times considerably slower than you did in HS. Despite this, he will tell everyone you're running much faster and they will all believe him.

With the exception of #6 this is pretty accurate and very funny.

That's really wierd. I don't know of anyone who compares their training style to Bill Roe. I didn't know Bill Roe had a training style. That's funny. You must be going to a school in the Northwest or your coach ran at Western or something, since that is weird. What is your future college?
The top ten list was great. Unfortunately it was accurate too. Bill Roe is one of the most self-important humans I've ever met in coaching.

Haven't you run at the CNW allcomers meets at Edmonds during the summer (moved to Shoreline this summer)? Bill Roe is the meet director for those, short white beard, New Zealand fern logo tattoo on his ankle.
you all need to break out of this message forunm and get some sort of a life. Its cool that you all run, however in reality i am the fastest runner on the planet, and undoubtly the best looking. actually this being said stay here keep posting and im goona go out and pick up. For those of you who do not get out this means women. Not that theres anything against picking up men im just really like women ya know. You know how we roll Giggity Giggity.
So all in all the moral of this message is that by using this message board you all mostly hollow people. In the sense that the human person is no longer capable of discourse outside of the web. So if you wanna you know go out and maybe live for a minute of two try talking to a real person, and maybe just maybe you will actually begin to live. Unplug and and wake the .....up.
