Okay guys I have just realized I have anemia... I didn't get blood work or anything but I'm pretty sure I do because I have some of the symptoms including:

Shortness of breath when walking or when doing an easy run

When I stand up from lying down my vision turns black and yellow for a few seconds and I get dizzy (this happens like every time)

I don't really get tired ( except when I do a lot of homework)that much but that is a symptom so yeah

Also my hands feel weak ALL the time idk what this is but yeah it's weird

Btw I'm a girl which probably does contribute to it more... anyway I have a question can I still continue training and increasing my mileage.. I usually feel fine on my runs but I get out of breath easily and slow paces make me out of breath. Also I'll be eating more iron foods- mainly cherrios. Is cherioos good a couple times a day for anemia? I mean it has 50% of iron I need... Also how long till my iron levels will be back.

You should not be guessing. Go to your doctor and get a blood test that includes a ferritin test (doctors unfamiliar with running usually don't test for it.) And if you are anemic, it's going to take a lot more than Cheerios! You will have to take iron supplements. You need more iron than the RDA. GET A BLOOD TEST!!

You're probably not going to get much from cheerios. It may say it has 50% but your body won't necessarily absorb it all. You should get some real medication. As for diet if you eat red meat, eat more of that. If you are vegetarian, at least eat more eggs.

I am a girl who has anemia. Except for me, my runs were extremely slow and my times were really bad since I felt very weak when running but mine was a extreme version. However, still go check it out and get a blood test even if you don't have those symptoms before it escalates to that. Iron pills will do a lot if you are anemic.

When I had anemia, I was never out of breath during my runs, my legs just felt super heavy.

If your poop is blackish, that's a sign of not absorbing the iron, so even if you were getting proper iron, you could still be anemic

Hi!

I have had anemia lots of times and for me there's only one trick that helped. Orange juice, 20 drops of yellow dock tincture ( you can find it at a health food store) and 2 proferrin pills. You should feel better in a week. It will probably take 4 weeks to feel super strong again.

I had SEVERE anemia last year. Got my blood checked and my feretin was a 5 (normal range is in the 30s). I started taking Megafood BloodBuilder supplements and now I am lerfectly healthy and have no more anemia! I do still take a pill every night with dinner (OJ also helps absorb the iron). I would def get blood checked

I got the exact same symptoms i used to run my easy runs at 4:20min/km, now maintaining 6:00min/km are super difficult, i also get dizzy and black and blur vission for 10 sec whenever i stand up after sitting or lying (everytime) i am having trouble breathing while running too, i cant run more than 4km at a time previously used to do 26km long runs every weak, its happening since 1 month now,

Please help how you got out of this?
